Abstract :
With the progress in short-pulse multiterawatt lasers, it is now possible to produce MeV electrons and ions in a plasma. These electrons can have potential for applications to fusion energy research, particle acceleration, medicine, and X-ray source development. Particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations were performed to produce suprathermal electrons and ions. Here, we present the numerical results of the suprathermal energetic electrons and ions generation due to the irradiation of the ultraintensive laser pulse on to a thin foil target.
