Abstract :
The rapid arrival of the cloud infrastructure will impact significantly the infrastructure of the wireless network operators. After trying unsuccessfully to deploy the SDR (Software Defined Radio) approach during the 2000s numbers of Wireless operators have launched several research initiatives in cloud (C-RAN, W-RAN) in the avowed purpose of taking advantage of new cloud infrastructures. For the core network, Wireless Operators will exploit new approaches such as the Overlay Networks, Software Defined Network(SDN), Network Functions Virtualisationtt-NFV), a Management plane based the Openstack, and others Chassis/Rack form based OpenCompute etc. For the Radio Access network, they will use the concept of Virtual Base Station (VBS), CPRI/OBSA. This convergence of two infrastructures (Cloud and Wireless) offers new research challenges and opens up a number of research areas as we seek to identify and develop throughout this presentation
