Abstract
A new 440 V AC inverter has been built for shipboard use and is being tested for the US Navy. It utilizes IGBTs in a staggered-clock, half-bridge configuration with a regenerative turn-off snubber. The laminated DC bus, high performance capacitors and inductors, and broadband controls are designed to produce 500 kVA in a 165 kg package
