Abstract
In our study, SBE (Scenic Beauty Estimation) methods from psychophysical paradigm were applied to examining preferable management of the existing plant landscape in Changchun and offering experience for constructing quality plant landscape in the future. We studied and evaluated typical greenbelts in Changchun at two different periods of time, the whole year (including four seasons) and the summer, and got the following results: (1) Two models: “SBE” model for the whole year: Z=−3.178+0.305X1+0.089X2+0.259X3+0.139X4+0.167X5+0.152X 6−0.022X7 (X1- tree body posture, X2 - color amount, X3- color contrast, X4- optic centre, X5- sense of space, X6-privacy, X7-four seasons), and “SBE” model for the summer: Z=-2.573−0.174X1+0.279X2+0.102X3+0.211X4+0.101X5+0.228X6+0.419X7 (X1- natural degree, X2 - tree body posture, X3- color contrast, X4- optic centre, X5- sense of space, X6- privacy, X7- sense of security); (2) When landscape plants attain their optimum conditions with regular DBH (diameter at breast height) and crown, some factors like tree body posture, color contrast, optic centre, sense of space, and privacy directly affect scenic beauty. Reasonable configuration of the above factors would contribute to management and design of plant landscape.
