Abstract
Design, implementation, and testing results of a variable structure controlled pulse density modulated current feedback amplifier are presented. The current amplifier is part of an industrial magnetic bearing digital control system, which uses a floating-point digital signal processor for levitation control of the bearing rotor. The signal processor is capable of very high sample rates and the amplifier control algorithm is very simple to program, so the entire controller (levitation control, state estimation, and amplifier control) is implemented on a single processor
