Abstract :
In this work we investigate the performance of hybrid technology using wavelength and optical code division multiplexing (WDM/OCDM) applied in a transparent optical network based on circuit switching. The optical network was designed to have an unbalanced number of resources that is planned with the knowledge of the Logical Connection Degree of each network node. In addition, the number of optical orthogonal codes must be limited by the distance from the source node to the destination one due to the severe constraints that PMD imposes to the optical transmission. The preliminary results show that the distribution of resources based on a restriction routing heuristic is a promising choice to the design of optical transparent networks with hybrid WDM/OCDM technology.
