Abstract :
An intelligent diagnosis system, which is capable of tracing the possible breakdown causes through the fabric defect categories, has been applied in this study to fabric inspection processing. Apart from the basic constitution (e.g. user interface, inference engine and knowledge base) of expert system (ES), it also consists of a diagnosis system developed by using fuzzy set theory. The diagnosis system, which is developed in a Turbo C programming environment, can act as an expert consultant to facilitate the operator to trace the causes of breakdown at any time and the expert system, which is developed in an artificial intelligence language PROLOG, can provide the operator with a variety of knowledge bases to proceed with further consultation in fabric inspection. The accuracy and the efficiency of its implementation are also estimated
