Abstract :
Two newly proposed gyro-device interaction circuits, the high order TE0n mode-selective clustered-cavity and extended interaction cavity, have been studied. The results of HFSS code simulation and relevant calculations show that applying these two kinds of cavities to gyroklystron and other cavity-related gyro-amplifiers as an interaction circuit, could broaden their operation bandwidth up to 3-8% at megawatt power level and millimeter wave frequencies. A 4-unit cluster has been employed in the design as a wideband buncher of a novel, high performance, three-stage, hybrid harmonic-multiplying gyro-amplifier, the Gyrotriotron, which has been fabricated and will be soon hot-tested in the Harmonic Gyrotron Lab at UMCP.
