Abstract :
Eurotunnel has brought a new dimension to cross channel transport. It´s Shuttles are amongst the longest trains in the world, at almost 800 m and 2600 tonnes in weight. Travelling at speeds of up to 140 km/h, 24 hrs per day, 52 weeks a year. Such specifications have equally called for new dimensions, in engineering never seen before in the railway industry, to produce complex, yet safe, reliable and low maintenance rolling stock. This paper/presentation gives a technical overview, of Eurotunnel´s Rolling Stock. Various aspects of the Eurotunnel locomotives are discussed including the electrical equipment, the control system, braking system, fire protection, servicing and planned maintenance, and cab layout
