Abstract
A low-cost, low-power and small-size tilt measurement system is designed with a 3-axis MEMS accelerometer and an ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller. In order to increase the measurement accuracy of the system, the filtering is used and a method of compensating for the accelerometer sensitivity drift with temperature is also proposed based on the temperature sensor embedded in the microcontroller. Experimental results show the tilt measurement system can update the tilt information at the speed of 100Hz, the measurement error is less than 1° and the standard deviation of the tilt angle is less than 0.13°, which has been used in a micro strapdown inertial navigation system(SINS) of some MUAV.
