Abstract :
This invited paper presents several passive devices containing long silicon photonic wires condensed into spirals. These devices present a large density factor due to their high ratio length over area that improves at the same time their efficiency and fabrication cost. The talk will present the basic equations of the waveguide shape as well as the design and performance of four passive devices under development at the Institute for Microstructural Sciences of the National Research Council Canada.
