Abstract :
In this paper, the problem of detection of optimal fuzzy clusters for data clustering is addressed. A comparative study involving different validity indexes is achieved based on simulated data. To evaluate the performance of each validity concept, two fuzzy clustering methods are considered. Based on simulation results, general deductions and interpretations are made about the efficiency of validity indexes in terms of their ability to achieve optimal clustering with respect to the selected clustering method.
