Abstract :
Renewable green energy is both economical and viable alternative to fossil fuels. Fuel cells are attractive for portable and small scale power systems generation because of their high energy density, high efficiency, clean and quiet operation. An efficient renewable green energy utilization system using Hydrogen PEM-fuel cell as an energy source is digitally simulated and fully studied in this paper. The novel renewable green utilization scheme has four separate key subsystems. The first is the green Fuel Cell generation source. The second is a common DC interface-bus where the generated electrical energy is collected in a DC form. The third comprises a novel multi-zone dynamic controller used for switching the dual action filter compensator developed by the Second Author to stabilize the common DC-Bus voltage and ensure better utilization of the fuel cell with minimum power quality problems. A full comparison of the conventional Proportional and Integral controller with the novel multi-zone dynamic controller is presented in the paper.
