Abstract :
The phenomenon of multichanneling in a rail gap switch ensures extremely low inductance, low resistance switching and better rise time which further reduce the damage to electrodes. This paper mainly elaborates the effect of multichannel in rail gap switch used for switching a 14kJ, 11.32uF/50 kV capacitor bank and characterization of the rail gap switch parameters. A trigger generator designed with dv/dt of 2kV/ns, to study the effects of multi channeling on circuit parameters will also be described.
