Abstract
Optimum detection in a frequency hopping (FH) system requires knowledge of the channel parameters. The channel estimation problem for (slow) frequency hopping systems is considered here assuming a frequency selective fading channel. An upper bound for the approximation error using flat fading models is derived. An ESPRIT-like algorithm is derived for the estimation of fading parameters
