Abstract :
In the developing demand for the vacuum interrupter in the medium voltage sector & to meet the quality requirements of the VI at the application end it is being very important to measure the leak rate of VI between the first & second measurements before dispatch to assess the VI healthiness. VIs are being introduced into switching products operating at transmission voltages and are finding popularity for its compactness, its range of application, its low cost, its superb electrical and mechanical life and its ease of application to vide range in medium voltage sector. There is, therefore, a need to have a leak rate detecting technique which is more reliable to assess the healthiness of VI during the manufacturing & assure the shelf life of VIs more than 20 years.
