Abstract
This paper focuses on the AC fault ride-through performance of an MMC VSC-HVDC link for the connection of a typical Round 3 windfarm or for the interconnection of two active AC networks. A high fidelity EMT model for these transmissions schemes is developed and simulation results are presented which show the compliance with the GB grid code for AC faults. An enhancement to the standard DQ current controller is also proposed which is shown to improve the transmission schemes power recovery response.
