Abstract
Designers must be able to understand the impact of parameter variation on the design of the energy-storage reactor and on the overall DC-to-DC converter performance. This paper shows how the design space of reactor turns and relative permeability can be used to visualize many of the complex couplings between important design parameters. Three types of parameter variation are illustrated: the expected variation in externally defined operating conditions, intentional design parameter variation for purposes of design tradeoff decisions, and unintended variation due to manufacturing tolerances
