Abstract :
Multilateration schemes presented in literature generally focus on deriving a minimum solution. The problem of how to make optimal use of the information about specific spatial configurations of the transmitter of interest and the associated set of observers in a wireless network is not generally considered. Such considerations are especially important when using Time Difference of Arrival methods because they are especially susceptible to geometric dilution of precision problems. Given an appropriate choice of geolocation algorithm, it is possible to use graph theory and a few simple facts from linear it is possible to choose index assignments such that geometric dilution of precision problems are significantly reduced.
