The valuation of efficiency of insurance companies in China based on DEA method

After the reinstatement of insurance, insurance industry in China has made great development, and now, the problem in efficiency gradually became an important issue which gains much attention from people. This paper using the method of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), conducts current widest efficiency measurement and rank on the China-capital and foreign-funded insurance companies with a total number of 31. Compared the efficiency and technological efficiency under the modle, this paper concludes that it is lower in the overall level of efficiency of the insurance industry in China than that in foreign insurance companies, and the restructuring of Chinese companies plays a very important role in improving its own efficiency.
