Abstract
In this paper, first the modelling techniques towards real time simulation of hybrid microgrids are presented. The simulation model of a synchronous generator is explained, followed by the model of an inverter based distributed generator. With these models hybrid microgrids are formed, and their stability is evaluated by examining three important factors: the black start of the microgrid including the synchronization process of the grid forming inverters, the transient load sharing upon step load changes and its correlation with the rated power of the generators, and the problem of the different time constants of synchronous generators and inverter based-generators.
