Abstract :
In this paper we introduce multi-rate PAA (parity accumulator accumulator) codes obtained from replacing single parity check codes with multi-rate cycle-free codes in the conventional PAA codes. They can be easily decoded by applying the sum-product algorithm to their factor graph. Using the Gaussian approximation, we investigate the noise thresholds of multi-rate PAA codes on the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Through simulation results, it is shown that the performance of PAA codes with multiple code rates is close to the Shannon limit over the AWGN channel.
