Abstract :
We combined a cylinder with deformation and accomplished the visualization for creating animation of the growth of fruit from opening flower to yield fruit. The beginning model is a cylinder that simulate plant stem, and adds perturbation function to the cylinder surface in the direction of the unit surface normal. We may distort a cylinder to the geometry shape of flower and fruit. The perturbation function may be defined by the basic functions that consist of less number of different parametric. These parametric can be changed automatically to form growth model. Different perturbation functions may simulate different kinds of virtual plant fruit. An example of creating animations of the apple is shown.
