  • Abstract
Communication networks are used to manage and control building facilities in an effective manner. The building automation control network (BACnet) is a standard data communication protocol designed specifically for building automation systems, and plays an important role as a representative building network. However, BACnet does not support a wireless channel, which would bring about several advantages, including reduced installation cost and eased placement constraints on the transceivers, as well as the introduction of flexible extensions and mobile device connectivity. Currently, the introduction and standardization of ZigBee as a BACnet wireless channel is under consideration by both the BACnet and ZigBee organizations. This paper describes a method of implementing a BACnet-ZigBee gateway.
