  • Abstract
A novel circuit of DC-to-DC converter for the battery charger of telecommunication equipment is proposed. The circuit is based on a half-bridge converter, in which a series resonance circuit and a small saturable inductor are employed. In this converter, the series resonance circuit compensates the voltage drop due to the leakage inductance of the transformer and the small saturable inductor removes the switching noise and switching losses by impulse charging and discharging the parasitic capacitance of the switch. The complete operating principle and theoretical analysis on the proposed converter are provided. And the experimental results of a 2.5 kW prototype converter operating at 80 kHz with 50 V output and 200 Va.c. input are presented and discussed
