Abstract :
A novel PWM technique for direct AC-AC matrix converters is presented. The algorithm is based on the same procedure as the well-known Venturini method but takes the measured input voltage into consideration. The technique enables the generation of balanced output voltages when input voltages are unbalanced and prevents the input voltage harmonics from propagating onto the output line-to-line voltages. The derivation of the computational formulae are described, and simulation results are given. This control scheme, being implemented using a DSP-based system, has, been applied to a matrix converter driving a 1 hp induction motor. The current and voltage waveforms obtained, from the experiment are present
