Abstract :
Travelling Wave Tubes (TWTs) based on serpentine or folded waveguide slow-wave structures are promising devices for operation in mm and sub-mm wavelength ranges. As a result of our recent search for the new devices, capable to produce higher power together with a broad bandwidth, there was done a wide study on a multiple-beam cascaded travelling-wave tube concept1. Currently under the development is an initial design for a 3-stage cascaded serpentine TWT, which was done by the PIC code MAGIC-3D with predicted up to ~4.5 kW output power in Ka-band together with > 10% bandwidth. Now we are looking for a large-signal code as an alternative tool to be adopted for the everyday modeling of such type of devices.
