Abstract
A simple high performance discrete time domain control method of single-phase power factor correction (PFC) circuits is presented to improve the dynamic performance of the output voltage control loop. By adding only a sample and hold (S/H) in the outer voltage loop, the output voltage can be sensed without the 120 Hz ripple and accordingly, a high bandwidth output voltage loop can be designed without any input current distortions. Analysis and design steps are detailed. Simulation results are presented to verify that the performance has improved over a conventional voltage loop control method
