Preliminary Study on Knowledge Activity Element of the Team Face to Face Communication

Knowledge work efficiency is becoming a serious worldwide problem, and more attention should be paid to improve the team knowledge work efficiency. Face to face communication is important link of the team knowledge work. Use for reference on "Therblig" of physical labor, a new research angle, knowledge activity element, is proposed to study face to face communication. First, we defined knowledge activity element and introduced its research methods. Second, using observation method, we examined 10 face to face meetings of 4 product design teams, extracted and named knowledge activity element, and formed the primary table mainly including 3 categories (motion, language and facial expression). And then we experimentally analyzed protocol data and extracted knowledge activity element mainly including thinking. Finally, knowledge activity element table was revised.
