  • Abstract
    A programmable constant current cardiac stimulator for use in a cardiac electrophysiology research lab has been implemented with a Macintosh II interfaced to voltage to current converters. The Macintosh II was equipped with three boards from National Instruments. The driver program for the boards was written in C and runs under System 6.0.X and Finder 6.1. The primary function of the program is to provide an easy-to-use interface for the operator while accurately controlling the output of the stimulator. Stimulation modes are preprogrammed to limit the number of parameters input by the user. Square, truncated exponential, damped sinusoidal, and triangular constant current waveforms have been implemented. A sensor with slope and level detection can be used for synchronous starting of the stimulation. Digital event markers corresponding to each channel are the output for external recording devices
