  • Abstract
In this paper, we analyze features and functions of automated intelligent testers and suggest approaches, methodology and structures for their realization. Our approach is based on principles of life-long continuous testing as the most efficient and, may be, only possible way to achieve reliable software functioning. In addition, a typology of testers and testing approaches is developed to provide possibilities for finding AI methods correlated with each type. Stages of the life-long continuous software testing are described and the role of AI on each of these stages is analyzed. To understand advantages of the intelligent approach, testing abilities of different types of testers are estimated by means of the theory of algorithms.
