Abstract
In order to reduce the manual timing error, improve the timing accuracy, designed a new compound pendulum device to measure the inertia of rigid body. Measure the swing cycle of compound pendulum by the single-clip microcomputer (SCM) photoelectric detection system. The structure of the compound pendulum with double boom ensured its stability, the structure of two fixed plate avoided lateral movement. Formula has been derived according to the theory of measuring. The inertia of rigid body can be determined by measuring the swinging cycle, the mass of compound pendulum and the mass of rigid body. This process does not to require the calibration of standard rigid body specimens. The devices and methods are applicable to measuring both regular and irregular rigid body. The measurement is simple and practical.
