Abstract :
A CAD tool for the design, simulation and synthesis of digital-delta-sigma-modulator-based analog sinusoidal signal sources is presented. Such a tool is crucial for these circuits to be rapidly incorporated in larger systems, in particular in the context of mixed-signal self-test schemes. The software also is capable of designing noise-shaping circuits such as the delta-sigma modulators used for high-resolution D/A and A/D conversion. It responds to high-level specifications such as the SNR and the output signal frequency range. Digital-Signal-Processor (DSP), Field-Programmable-Gate-Array (FPGA) and silicon prototypes are automatically implemented and tested, provided an appropriate HDL or C compiler and HPIB-interfaced instruments are available. Based mostly on the widespread Matlab software, it is highly portable and modular, and thus readily adaptable to both research and industrial environments
