Abstract :
Microcellular teletraffic statistics for a variety of conditions in street microcells are examined. The CT-2 teletraffic performance when the capacity is limited by the number of PSTN lines connected to the BS is presented, and divergences from the results predicted by the Erlang formula are considered. DECT performance with fixed and dynamic channel assignment is investigated and the differences between a range of channel allocation strategies identified. The use of an oversailing macrocell is shown to be highly advantageous, giving an eight-fold increase in capacity when only three macrocell channels are deployed
