  • Abstract
Power system network dynamics are often ignored in power system analysis in order to simplify and speed up calculations. Such assumptions can be alleviated with no cost in computation time using analog computation. Analog computation exhibits physically realizable solutions and significantly faster computation times as compared to digital. However, accurate analog models of power system components are required. This paper focuses on the development of an analog transmission line model incorporating time-varying phasors. More specifically, this model was designed for a previously proposed method of analog power system emulation. Prior research with this method has focused on a static representation of transmission lines. The dynamic model, proposed here, is a natural extension of previous work and allows for more accurate power system stability analysis. The model is developed within an analog emulation framework, and verified with simulation via analog behavior modeling in PSpice software.
