  • Abstract
In order to estimate the coverage area, the authors use an approach based on statistical models. They deal with environments characterized by combined shadowing and multipath effects, which is a closer representation of urban land mobile propagation where both effects can appear. Firstly, they describe a simplified propagation model that is employed to evaluate the received mean power. Then they present the statistical model. The one used is a combination of a Rayleigh and log-normal distributions suggested by H. Suzuki (1977), F.Hansen and F. Meno (1977) and M.F. Ibrahim and J.D. Parsons (1988) among others and known Suzuki distribution. Finally, the authors combine both models in order to characterize the variability of the mobile radio signal and estimate the cell coverage area
