Abstract
The human operator is an extremely difficult element to model in any man-machine interaction due to his or her nondeterministic nature and possibly nonstationary behaviour. A formal model utilizing phase plane portraits which can detect (in probability) when it would be appropriate to remove the human from the loop and automate his or her function is developed. This type of modeling falls within the context of intelligent control or fuzzy control
