Abstract
This paper analyzes the information rate control for characterizing moving objects in networked visual applications where limited computational and communication resources are used in the characterization task. Several key processing units in networked visual applications are presented. The goal is to utilize suitable image processing techniques for identifying the key parameters of the important objects in the video scene and transmit the best information in terms of both temporal and spatial domains to proper users. In the end, all the interconnected users can properly share their information under limited computational power and communication bandwidth. Particularly, three scenarios of information rate control for characterizing moving objects in visual applications are discussed.
