Abstract :
The old saying ldquoParalysis by Analysisrdquo seems to hold true for many reliability initiatives. Too many times there is so much analysis to point us in a direction that by the end of all that analysis we lose out on the opportunity to make the corrections using current and timely data. This paper describes how one company structured a reliability initiative from the ground up to make the reliability data understandable and actionable. When applied to other companies, the improvements discussed in this paper will vary, depending on the types of outages experienced. The real goal by defining or re-defining a program from the ground up, is to take reliability improvements back to the basics and improve service to customers.
