Abstract :
This paper presents some of the preliminary research and development works on a moving coil linear DC motor intended to be used for controlling engine valves. The design of a moving coil linear DC motor is based on high energy permanent magnet material. This paper also discusses the design-procedure for a linear actuator for high-dynamic applications. The approach is systematical and straightforward. Although the required specifications are very tight, the targets could be achieved very well.
