Abstract
IEDs diffusion, evolutions of computer aided design tools, and standardizations for IEC61850 & synchrophasor have allowed industries to provide more opportunities of innovation by utility´s engineers in protection and control engineering fields. In this paper, worldwide examples of recent innovations in P&C especially from several utility´s viewpoints are introduced, which includes how to set vision and strategy and manage projects and related organizations and achieve their goals. And our observations through benchmarking studies for P&C related businesses in major utilities of North America would be summarized. And experiences through TEPCO´s IED pilot projects and future directions will be discussed.
