Abstract :
Rapidly increased network services need high-performance, flexible networking devices. Network processors are being targeted at a wide range of application with varying packet processing and high-throughput requirements. This paper describes a solution to implement 10gigabit packet switching using next generation of Intel Internet exchange processors (IXPs) IXP2800. The paper includes system blocks, microarchitecture, and functional unit characteristics, and provides the performance analysis of high-speed packet processing based on IXP network processors.
