Abstract :
Based on the analysis of the car-following time, a car-following time model was founded. After the analysis of speed variation, the model of speed random variable was founded, after that an improved highway capacity model was set up, and a calibrating method of the model was given, then, to simulate the model based on the actual data, and to analyze the influence of the free speed and the maximum car-following time and the speed random variable mean value on the highway capacity. The contrast between the simulating results and actual data shows that this model is feasible and can reflect the actual traffic flow characteristics very well.
