Abstract
The technique of state feedback is used for the initial alignment of an inertial navigation system with a stable platform. A reduced-order observer is designed to estimate the azimuth alignment error using the outputs of north and east accelerometers. The performance of the technique is compared with that of conventional gyrocompassing procedures through simulation results
