Abstract :
The impact induced initiation of covered HE is an important problem associated with safety. In this work we investigate the impact shock detonation of high explosives BPX confined in an steel spherical shell by a normal impact at velocity of 2000 m/s by the help of two-dimensional axisymmetric finite element analysis. The impact failure processes of projectile and shell are considered in the analysis.
