Abstract
Two main types of software development life-cycle used to produce client-server software are compared: procedural centric vs. data centric (object-oriented). The criteria for the comparison are two of the key requirements for software maintenance of the life-cycle: good modularisation (encapsulation) and extensibility (re-configuration). Using an ineffective life-cycle can lead to poor management and higher costs in the maintenance of client-server software
