Abstract
In order to reduce remote signaling traffic and out-of-order packets and retransmission packets in Mobile IP networks, the paper proposes a distributed-agent scheme. Two new agents, redirection agent and local agent, are introduced to replace the foreign agent and some new options are introduced to create a new distributed routing algorithm. Results from simulation confirm that remote signaling traffic used for registration by mobile nodes is effectively reduced, and out-of-order packets and retransmission packets are also reduced The performance of Mobile IP is improved using this algorithm.
