Abstract :
This study attempts to examine empirically the long and short-run relationships between CO2 emissions, energy consumption and economic growth in China using ARDL bounds test Approach for the period 1985–2008. The results indicate that there exist long and short-run relationships between the variables. Energy consumption has a positive impact on CO2 emissions and economic growth affects CO2 emissions negatively. Energy consumption is the most significant variable in explaining the carbon emissions, which suggests energy consumption can help to mitigate CO2 emissions greatly.
