Abstract
Service conflict refers to the case that services may interfere with each other when they are used together. This issue adversely affects service quality and user satisfaction. Service conflict in IP multimedia system (IMS) becomes more complex and existent solutions don´t adapt well to handle the IMS issue. In this paper, based on comprehensive analysis of IMS service conflict phenomena, a generic IMS service conflict control approach, GICC, is proposed to detect and resolve IMS conflicts online. Profiting from the proposed generic service behavior description, modeling service interactions as predicate formulas and the predicate calculus based conflict control, GICC is designed to be general to handle different IMS conflicts and extensible to accommodate new services and conflicts. Case studies on both well-known conflicts of call service and new emerging IMS conflicts are conducted to evaluate the feasibility and validity of proposed approach.
