  • Abstract
    Mobile WiMAX has the capability to support high transmission rate at vehicle speed and provides quality of service (QoS) for different applications. However, allocating the limited resources in such wireless network to different application with variant QoS is highly complex and challenging. Many resource allocation schemes have been proposed for different wireless based network. In most cases the proposed algorithms are found to have higher complexity. In this paper, a less complex algorithm for subcarrier allocation is proposed. The proposed subcarrier allocation scheme uses biologically inspired optimization technique to reduce the overall complexity and provides adjustable quality of service for transmission in different applications. The proposed subcarrier allocation technique has reduced the overall computational time by 89.8% compared to root-finding method and 33.8% when compared to linear search technique.
